Chautauqua County Historical Society's 2018 Annual Gala Fundraiser

The Chautauqua County Historical Society is inviting its members and the community to help support the preservation of local history by attending its annual fundraiser and gala on Saturday, June 9.

“Standing Ground” will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. at the historic McClurg Museum in Westfield’s Moore Park – located at the corner of Routes 394 and 20 in the village.

The fundraiser will include complimentary hors d’oeuvres and wine tasting, along with musical entertainment provided by the dynamic folk duo of Doc & Willie (Doc Hamels and Will Russell).

Attendees will also have the opportunity to tour the McClurg Museum and learn more about current and upcoming renovations from the historical society board members and volunteers. A special exhibit featuring the roster and photographs of the 112th New York Volunteer Infantry will also be available for viewing. The 112th was organized in Jamestown, NY in 1862 under the command of Colonel Jeremiah C. Drake.

The fundraisers name, “Standing Ground,” is in reference to the 9th NY Cavalry reenactment group, who will also be on hand in Moore Park and will be staging an encampment the entire weekend, with activities taking place throughout the day on Saturday. Those who wish to attend the Gala may want to arrive in Westfield early to also take advantage of the free encampment events.

Admission for the event is $50 per person. All proceeds go to support operations at the Chautauqua County Historical Society, including the ongoing renovation efforts at the historic McClurg Museum.

For tickets call (716) 326-2977 or contact any member of the Chautauqua County Historical Society's board of trustees.
