Between July and September this year the Village of Westfield will be conducting our scheduled Lead & Copper testing. Due to recent lead issues in Flint, MI, the regulatory agencies have developed new procedures and criteria in relation to testing for these substances and the site selection process associated with it. They have divided the sites into one of three (3) different tiers with residences that fall into the first tier being most desirable, that being those that:
- That have a lead service line of any age known
- That have lead pipe within the home
- That have copper pipe with possible lead solder in the home that are either
- Constructed between 1983 to 1986 (Tier 1) or,
- Constructed before 1983 (Tier 3)
If you have a single family or multi-family home which you believe fall into one of these categories and would like to participate and have your water tested for Lead & Copper please contact Lynne Vilardo at the Village of Westfield Water Department @ 716-326-2832 (7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.) and I will be happy to speak with you regarding the upcoming testing. Our anticipated date for testing is for the week of July 23rd. The final list will need to be completed no later than Friday, July 13th. We cannot accept anyone who has a whole house filter.
I look forward to hearing from all that are interested.
Thanks, Lynne Vilardo
