Coon Road Speedway Event – Rousing Success – Ox Roast 2018!

Right there at the start of the activity venues at Ottaway Park Westfield Firemen’s Ox Roast 2018, was a white tent with an old white race car - #18 (how appropriate!) – a replica of the #18, 1941 Mercury race car that was driven by Don Strain at Coon Road Speedway, about some 60 years ago.

SUMMER MOVIES IN THE PARK/FIELD SCHEDULE

The Westfield Recreation Department will be showing / helping to show 4 movies in the park/field this summer! Everyone is welcome to bring a chair or blanket and enjoy the movies!

Show time: as soon after dusk as is dark enough

Parents are reminded that children must be accompanied by an adult and supervised at all time. Enforced smoke, alcohol, and pet free environment.

Jacob Ludes, III, a western New York native and internationally respected educator, has published a micro-history of America. The history recounts the full scope of American history from first people to 1865 through the lens of the Chautauqua-Erie Region of western New York State.

Westfield Fish 2018 June People’s Choice Winner

During the July 6, First Friday event held on Main Street in Westfield the winner of the #Westfield Fish 2018 project was awarded to the Westfield Memorial Hospital Foundation - ER fish #60.  After counting hundreds of ballots a clear winner was established and the June trophy, a framed certificate and a $50.00 Shoptauqua Gift Card were awarded to Kathryn Bronstien and the artist, that created this wonderful entry, Kathy McAllister, by Westfield Barcelona Community Chamber of Commerce board member, Marilyn Hemmer.
