Behind the Lens: Photography and Technology of the Mid-20th Century
Blair Koss, Founder and Designer, Rosie’s Workshop will discuss the history of film photography focusing on technology breakthroughs that enable artistic innovation. Two photographers will be featured, with numerous works shared:
- Tony Vacarro. Best known for his live action photos during WWII and photojournalism work during the 1950s-1980s
- Ruth Orkin. The woman who invented street photography using the new 35mm still cameras.

After stories and songs together, kids will have a snack and do a craft with volunteers while caregivers have their own casual activity in another room. Story time is focused towards ages 3-6, but open to all audiences. Supplies are limited and given out on a first come, first serve basis.
