*The following write-up/picture is the latest edition of our monthly volunteer spotlight of volunteers in the Rec. Dept. We are blessed in the Rec. Dept. to have had so many wonderful people who have volunteered their time over the years to make our department and programs/events what they are today. We want to say thank you! Our volunteer spotlight for November is John Emmons. For the last 9 years, John has been synonymous with the Westfield Recreation Department. He has both volunteered, as well as worked for the Rec. Dept. in some capacity over that time. On the volunteer side, John has put in countless hours volunteering in a little bit of everything, including movies in the park, roller skating, the Tour of Chautauqua bike ride and various summer activities.

There have been several times, where an event or program just would not have happened without John. He has been that essential to what the Rec. Dept. has done. John loves to build relationships with people and has a great time with the kids in our youth programs. When asked what his favorite program or event is, he said: "I enjoy all the different events that the Rec. Dept. offers. One of my favorite events has to be the overnight camping trip." The overnight camping trip highlights John's dedication to the Rec. Dept. as he routinely stays up all night to make sure that all the kids are safe.

It takes a lot of time and effort to volunteer the way John does for the Rec. Dept. "When I was growing up, I did not have the opportunity to participate in these types of programs and without volunteers some of the programs would not exist." John said. We are certainly blessed in Westfield to have the Rec. Dept. The Rec. Dept. is certainly blessed to have so many awesome volunteers. Most of all, we are all very lucky to have John in our lives and as a volunteer in the Rec. Dept. Thank you John!
